Moremi Game Reserve
Moremi Game Reserve tour –10 nights/11 days

ARRIVAL DAY

Our professional guide will meet you at the Lodge in Maun. You will have time to freshen up by the garden lounge. During dinner you’ll have a complete explanation by your guide about the rest of the tour and you can ask all you want to know about the country and its people.

DAY 1: NXAI PAN IN THE MAKGADIKGADI NATIONAL PARK

You will be picked up at the lodge early in the morning, and drive to Nxai Pan, on a very sandy road. Part of the great Makgadikgadi complex, Nxai Pan National Park covers an area of 2,100 km2, and comprises several larger pans which were once ancient salt lakes. These larger pans are now grassed, and are scattered with islands of acacia trees, and smaller pans that fill with water during the rainy season - thus providing rich resources for wildlife. We spend a night, in an exclusive BOGA (Botswana Guides Association) site, away from other people. A common place for Brown Hyena and see what else is around. Later in the day we will sit at the Waterhole, the only one for miles around and very busy, if the rains haven't started. Sunsets at the Waterhole can be spectacular, with animals silhouetted against the setting sun. We return to our camp after sunset, and enjoy great food and drinks around a fire.

DAY 2: MAKGADIKGADI PANS NATIONAL PARK

We drive 4 hours from Nxai Pan to Khumaga in Makgadikgadi Pans National Park an area of 3,900square km, where we spend a night in the Public Campsite, across the river from the village of Khumaga but separated by the Boteti River. Hundreds of Zebra congregate here to drink and provide great photographic opportunities. There are numerous birds of prey in this area, vultures, owls and eagles galore. We will concentrate on game drives along the river which should be flowing still although it has a history of drying up. Hippos and Crocodiles occur here, and survived 17 years when the river was dry, until early 2009. White Rhino were released here several years ago, but are seldom seen.

DAY 3: OKAVANGO DELTA MOKORO

We drive out to Maun for about 2 hours 30 minutes drive. . Lunch can be arranged for you upon your arrival in Maun, depending on your schedule. We then start our trip to the Okavango Delta. When deciding whether to arrange lunch, bear in mind that the next meal will be served when we arrive at the Delta 3 to 4 hours later. Our friendly, professional camp staff , chef and a camp hand will welcome you upon our arrival at the Okavango Delta and take you to your already pitched camp in the island. There will be ample time for you to relax and refresh after the long trip.

DAY 4: OKAVANGO DELTA MOKORO

Wake up early in the morning for a light breakfast before you leave on a full¬‐day safari. We will bring snacks, refreshments, and lunch along with us, which gives us a chance to do a game walk on one of the nearby islands. Return to camp for dinner and a cozy evening in your comfortable canvas tent.

DAY 5: MOREMI GAME RESERVE

We rise early and after a healthy breakfast and cruise back to the mokoro excursion station where we will board our game viewing vehicle. A game drive takes us to the Moremi Game Reserve, famous for its big concentrations of game, where we set up camp for the next 2 nights in a plain wilderness area. An extensive lunch is served en route and arrival in camp will be mid-afternoon. A late afternoon drive leaves for game viewing until sunset, when we head back to camp. After dinner is served, there is time to chat and relax around the campfire.

DAY 6: MOREMI GAME RESERVE

This morning we make an extensive game-drive in the park to see the abundance of wildlife in this pristine area. We aim to be back in camp by noon but if we are lucky and see specials this might even be later. After lunch there is time for shower and siesta before setting of for an afternoon game-drive till sundown. After dinner we enjoy the campfire and listen to the bush-noises.

DAY 7: SAVUTI (CHOBE NATIONAL PARK)

An interesting game drive takes us away of Moremi, traveling north via the Khwai River and the Mababe Depression to Savuti, our camp for the next 2 nights. The Savuti area with wide open grassy plains and scattered rocky outcrops is the perfect area for large herds of elephants, zebra and wildebeest and giraffe families, not forgetting the many predators that follow them. We enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush and arrive in camp mid-afternoon in time to still make a short sundown drive. Our staff has again prepared a superb bush-dinner and the campfire will welcome us.

DAY 8: SAVUTI (CHOBE NATIONAL PARK)

As the Savuti area is vast we can opt for a full day trip or a combined morning and afternoon drive, this depending on where animals are concentrated. Your guide will advise you the day before so you can organize accordingly. The plains are always a highlight and the area is known for its great concentration of predators. We also make a short climb to see some Bushman rock paintings, beautiful vistas from the hill, back in camp after sundown.

DAY 9: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK

Today we make a last game-drive in the area and then head North to the Chobe river. We pass some traditional villages along the road and have plenty possibilities for a "lunch with a view". Arrival in camp is around mid-afternoon and we still have time for a sunset drive along the river. This area has the largest population of elephants in the world and seeing several hundred a day is normal; expect them to visit the camp. We explore the Chobe River and make an extensive game-drive along its borders. The area really has one of the densest animal concentrations in Africa and expects to see many different species: roan antelope, sable antelope, puku, red lechwe, giraffe are commonly seen and the possibility of seeing lions - leopard - wild dogs is high, Chobe never disappoints. Lunch is served in camp and in the afternoon we make a shorter drive as this is the time when most animals come to the river to drink. After dinner we enjoy our last campfire of the safari.

DAY 10: KASANE

We make a last game-drive along the Chobe River to arrive in Kasane around 11 AM. We will have our lunch at the lodge by the river. In the afternoon at 15:30pm, you’ll cruise on the enchanting Chobe River, marveling at the variety and vast numbers of animals coming and going from this life‐giving river. We have our last dinner together at the lodge.
